DC Care Sells Selly Wood House

DC Care Sells Selly Wood House

On behalf of Bournville Village Trust DC Care is delighted to announce the successful sale of Selly Wood House Nursing Home, set in the heart of Bournville in Birmingham, registered for 44 residents.

Selly Wood House was constructed in the 1980s and provides quality care for people aged over 65 who need nursing or personal care, including people with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. In addition, palliative and end of life care are also provided. The home enjoys a wonderful reputation within the local area and is highly regarded for the standards of care provided.

Following a strategic review in 2019, Bournville Village Trust made the decision that the home would be best placed being owned and managed by a specialist care organisation and appointed DC Care to market the home.

Director of Business Development for BVT, Annette Homer said “After the initial conversation with Andy Sandel of DC Care, it was clear that he understood our values and that that finding the “right” buyer was essential due to the key role this home plays within our community. Working with Andy and Michelle was both efficient and enjoyable and I would not hesitate in appointing them to undertake further work for BVT in the future, in fact I already have!”

The sale of Selly Wood House was handled by DC Care’s Southern Region Director Andy Sandel and Senior Sales Negotiator Michelle Natkus. Andy commented “Selly Wood House was a well-presented home, however it was felt an established regional operator would be best-equipped to make the required medium to long term investment to ensure that the home remained competitive in the local marketplace.”

A buyer was found in the form of Pritpal Bedi of Avatar Care Group, a long-established regional operator who also acquired Hafod House in Wrexham and Oaklands in Oswestry through DC Care in the late 2000s.

Pritpal Bedi sent his thanks to DC Care “It’s been a pleasure to work with the responsive team at DC Care, we look forward to working with them in the near future.”

Andy said “We were pleased to find a suitable buyer in Avatar Care Group and look forward to working with them again, whenever they are ready to make their next acquisition. It was a pleasure working with Annette Homer at Bournville Village Trust, Michelle and I would like to pass on our best wishes to Annette and Bournville Village Trust.”
